Sendmail, Inc., which claims that more than 60 percent of the world's email traffic runs on its messaging servers, announced Monday that it is developing and promoting sender authentication technologies that are designed to prevent email address spoofing, forging, and email fraud. The open source technology will follow Sendmail's milter (mail filter) plug-in framework.

The U.S. National Security Agency (NSA), also known as the codemakers and codebreakers cryptologic division within the Department of Defense, has helped to harden Linux with newly-released Security Enhanced Linux (SELinux) kernel modifications.

HP plans Opteron servers, AMD partnership

The Opteron systems initially will come with 32-bit versions of Windows or Linux. Within 60 to 90 days, 64-bit versions of Linux will arrive on the servers, and by the end of the year, Microsoft's 64-bit version of Windows, HP said.
