The first edition of this book got very good reviews and usually that means that unless something is drastically different about the second edition or it didn't keep up with the technology, it'll be a success, too. ...It's not an Access book, or an MS SQL book, or a MySQL book, or an Oracle book or a...well, you get the idea. At its core, SQL is a database language that has been implemented by a number of vendors including Microsoft and that has an open source expression in MySQL but without those tweaks and spins, is just "plain old SQL".
