First look: Asus V2-AH2
So yesterday I went to my boss’ place to install both Kubuntu Dapper and Debian Etch onto his new Asus V2-AH2 box, which really gave us a hard time. But that wasn’t Debian’s or Ubuntu’s fault.

All in all, both the Asus “Vintage” V2-AH2 as well as the LixSystems LX8100-AM2BB-M2NPV-VM Home Theater PC are very well laid-out systems, the first one being a bit cheaper and more like a small “normal” PC, the latter like a PC for your HiFi and Video rack, which makes it a really cool and desirable “lifestyle” product. I would buy and recommend both of them. And keep in mind that with these new AM2 socket mainboards, you could put in anything from a 40$ Sempron64 to a 800$ FX-62 dual core runner. Using a 180$ AMD Athlon64 X2 3800+ EE is like the “golden middle way”. These machines simply do anything you’ll throw at them, and that with quite a lot of speed and style. And while both are Debian compatible, the LixSystems can even be ordered complete and with Linux pre-installed. Full Story |
