SAMS Teach Yourself CSS in 24 Hours 2nd Ed

I hadn't considered a book on CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) that didn't also include information about HTML and XHTML. That is my naivete talking since I look at CSS as providing the ability to impose an overarching format onto HTML pages.

The author's introduction seemed to lend some credence to my lack of familiarity with "CSS only" texts as he states the first edition of this book was published a scant 4 years ago (2002) and there was a dearth of CSS texts available at that time.
I took a look at the book on Amazon and saw that the reviews were uneven and not particularly favorable. When I checked the dates though, all of the reviews were focused at this book's first edition (it would be nice if the folks at Amazon were to remove those reviews since not one of them addresses the current edition). This left me curious as to how (of if) the second edition would improve upon the first effort.
Each of the SAMS "in 24 Hours" books promises a lot (I'd hate to see titles such as "SAMS Teach Yourself Brain Surgery in 24 Hours" or "SAMS Teach Yourself How to Build a Fission Reactor in Your Backyard in 24 Hours") so the content offered in this series of books has to be digestible to the average reader within the given time frame. This isn't always an attainable goal and I was interested to see if Bartlett's book could deliver as promised. With that in mind, I opened the text and started to explore. Full Story |
