As a free software maintainer, I get to read lots of email messages by people who want to contribute to the projects I am responsible for. Most of them know little about the Free/Libre/Open Source Software culture. Here are some tips that every aspiring developer should know about the customs and techniques prevalent in FLOSS culture and about contributing to FLOSS projects.
