Texas Attorney General Consumer Complaint Form
We receive requests about Dell USA and their policy of only bundling Microsoft software. According to our research, Dell receives marketing rebates from Microsoft as do other OEMs. If you have problems with Dell, CompUSA, Fry's, OfficeDepot, etc. you can file a complaint with the AG. You can file on-line or print the form and mail it. I suggest you get the policy in writing. If you visit Fry's for example when they have a special Linux computer sale and you see a sign suggesting that you "move up" to a Windows based computer, you may want to photograph the sign, discuss it with a salesman, get that person's name, etc. Without tangible proof you will alienate the AG's office. Please do not turn this into a protest or you will hurt your own chances. The basis of my complaint is lack of choice. I want all of these companies to give every consumer a choice at the time of purchase as to which operating system they want. I also want the sales person to remain neutral and be prepared to explain the differences in the products and discuss the pricing. |
