This configuration delivers improved availability and manageability for e-mail, instant messaging, scheduling and other collaboration capabilities provided by GroupWise. Matrix Server software provides high availability for GroupWise with seamless fail-over for servers running the GroupWise application.
Matrix Server also simplifies the management of GroupWise by providing a "shared home" for GroupWise and its applications, PolyServe Dynamic Re-Hosting(TM) for simple drag-and-drop resource allocations, on-demand capacity upgrades and a single point of management for all servers and storage within the cluster.
By deploying GroupWise with Matrix Server, an IT organization can significantly reduce total cost of ownership, and eliminate both planned and unplanned downtime. In addition to certifying Matrix Server with GroupWise, Novell also provides support for all software components in the stack, including Matrix Server, GroupWise and the SUSE Linux Enterprise Server.
"This joint solution demonstrates Novell's continued commitment to delivering best-in-class solutions for collaboration," said David Patrick, Novell vice president and general manager of Linux, Open Source Platforms and Services. "Today, collaboration is a mission-critical application that cannot go down. PolyServe Matrix Server augments GroupWise deployments with enhanced fault tolerance and by simplifying system management to ensure customers can share information in a secure, reliable fashion."
"We are pleased our partnership with Novell now extends to the support of Novell's powerful and popular GroupWise software," said Ian Miller, PolyServe vice president of business development. "This is a great example of how our two companies are jointly advancing the capabilities of Linux across the enterprise."
Novell GroupWise is a complete collaboration software solution that provides knowledge workers with e-mail, calendaring, instant messaging, task management, and contact and document management functions. In meeting these needs, GroupWise 7 also delivers the security, reliability and platform flexibility users have come to expect from Novell and its products. PolyServe Matrix Server software provides shared data clustering for mission-critical utility computing in the data center.
Matrix Server includes a symmetric cluster file system that enables scalable data sharing, high- availability services that increase system up-time, and cluster and storage management capabilities for managing servers and storage as one. Matrix Server delivers enhanced scalability, availability and manageability for database, file serving, e-mail and Web serving applications.
