Appligent's Standalone Desktop Tool Eases the Electronic Filing of PDF Documents
LANSDOWNE, Pa., Nov. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- Appligent, Inc., (http://www.appligent.com), the leading provider of Portable Document Format (PDF)-related software solutions, today announced the introduction of APSplit(R) Desktop Edition, a standalone application for preparing PDF files to meet the document size requirements imposed by the courts and other government institutions on electronic filing submissions. Because it is based on Appligent's high performance SPDF libraries, APSplit DE runs independently as an easy to use desktop application rather than as a plug-in for Adobe(R) Acrobat.(R) Electronic filing of court and other documents is becoming increasingly popular and PDF is the required file format. Each jurisdiction or organization specifies the rules that determine the size of the documents in the filing. One state court might require that each document by no larger than 1000 pages or one megabyte (1000 kilobytes) while another might require filings of 1500 pages or two megabytes. APSplit DE provides a simple drag-and-drop interface for selecting the files to be split. Users can easily specify the maximum size in the number of pages or kiloBytes. Additionally files can be split as individual pages, by page ranges or by bookmarks. APSplit DE also supports linearized PDF output, which enables a user to view the first pages of a PDF document while it is still being downloaded from the Internet. "Legal professionals have asked for an easy-to-use PDF processing tool that doesn't rely on server-based software or Adobe Acrobat," said Virginia Gavin, Appligent's president. "APSplit DE is designed for the average end user yet still has the robust scalability that makes Appligent the choice of the IT professional." APSplit DE is a standalone desktop application that runs in a windows environment on multiple platforms. APSplit DE is available for Windows NT/2000/XP, Red Hat Linux and Mac OS X. Pricing is $199.00 per user. A 30-day trial version of APSplit Desktop Edition is available for download at http://www.appligent.com. About Appligent Appligent Inc.
