Ingres Announces World-Class Management Team to Lead Newly Independent Business Open Source Database Company
MENLO PARK, Calif., Nov. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Garnett & Helfrich Capital, a private equity firm specializing in Venture Buyouts (VBOs), today announced the executive team they have appointed to lead Ingres Corporation following the divestiture of Computer Associates' Ingres open source database unit into an independent corporate entity. The new Ingres executive team will include Terry Garnett as chairman and interim CEO; Dave Dargo, senior vice-president, Strategy and chief technology officer; Emma McGrattan, senior vice president of Engineering; Andy Allbritten, senior vice president of Support and Services; and Dev Mukherjee, chief marketing officer and senior vice president of Business Development. These executives will lead Ingres, focusing on the marketing, support and continued development of the Ingres product line. Dave Dargo, Senior Vice-President, Strategy and Chief Technology Officer Dave Dargo joins Ingres Corporation as senior vice-president, Strategy and chief technology officer bringing more than 25 years experience in the technology industry to Ingres. A widely respected leader in the open source community, Mr. Dargo has worked with many technologies spanning IBM mainframes, UNIX and Linux, and he has performed in a wide range of roles in engineering, marketing, consulting, support, product management and partner alliances. At Ingres Mr. Dargo will be charged with setting the new company technology vision and ensuring the team flawlessly executes on that vision. Previously Mr. Dargo spent 15 years at Oracle Corporation where he held a number of senior management positions including establishing Oracle's Linux Program Office. Mr. Dargo defined Oracle's Linux strategy and managed the value-added engineering, product management, partnering, and marketing of Oracle's products and technologies in the Linux market. Emma McGrattan, Senior Vice President of Engineering Emma McGrattan joins Ingres as senior vice president of Engineering from CA where she held a similar position responsible for the Ingres family of relational database management products. A leading authority in DBMS technologies, Ms. McGrattan has been instrumental in the ongoing success of Ingres. Ms. McGrattan joined CA in 1994 upon its acquisition of The ASK Group, were she held a variety of senior development management positions. At Ingres Ms. McGrattan will be responsible for the development and architecture of the Ingres database and associated products and technologies. Ms. McGrattan will directly manage the worldwide engineering, test and quality assurance teams located in California, New York and the United Kingdom. An expert on software pricing and licensing, Mr. Allbritten was most recently with Oracle as group vice president, Support Services and at PeopleSoft as managing director, group vice president - Support Services, Worldwide Sales & Operations. In this position Mr. Allbritten was responsible for the PeopleSoft's Worldwide Customer Services organization, the maintenance line of business and tiered services programs which together accounted for half of PeopleSoft's annual revenue. At Ingres Mr. Allbritten will be charged with providing more than 5,000 Ingres customers with comprehensive technical support, access to the latest product enhancements and upgrades, and the education needed to apply the full potential of Ingres products. A thought leader in the technology industry for his vision of utility computing and software as a service, Mr. Mukherjee was most recently general manager of Marketing for Microsoft's Windows Server System brand, which includes Windows Server OS, Exchange Server, SQL Server and Biztalk Server. Prior to Microsoft, Mr. Mukherjee was vice-president Strategy and Marketing in IBM's Global Services unit for the outsourcing and hosting businesses. In this role he led IBM's strategy to establish a new model of computing "On Demand", bringing together IBM's product lines, sales and services under a single umbrella. Mr. Mukherjee was recognized by BusinessWeek magazine as one of their Top 25 e-biz leaders for the impact his vision of on demand computing had not only at IBM, but the technology industry as a whole.
