Windows Dumbs Down Even More! Shiny! New!
In an effort to capture more of the vital overseas-customers-who-don't-have-much-money market, Microsoft released localized versions of Windows XP Starter Edition in several countries, which is so dumbed-down and crippled that those of us who thought our low expectations of Microsoft could not be beaten were proven wrong yet again.

I'm trying to stop laughing so I can type this- among other "features" it runs only on budget processors like Celeron and Duron, only three windows at a time can be open, and the maximum screen resolution is 800x600. No, really! I am not making this up! It's all true!
None of the articles about this say if XP Starter Edition ships with impaired malware support, but I doubt it- expect full support for spyware, viruses, worms, Trojans horses, and random strangers who aren't even trying to crack the system. This is how they are going to compete with F/OSS in emerging markets. I ph34r. Full Story |
