LinuxWorld Boston - A New Era
I went to the first Linux World in San Jose, California in March 1999 and have been to most of them since. I'm finding the differences curious. I think the term --low key-- fits the the tenor. One can feel the enthusiam, but the wild and crazy euphoria has given way to the subdued business types. It's refreshing in many ways. Most of the people I meet know Linux. They're here to find out more and go deeper into the technologies. I have chosen to by-pass the press conferences and visit with the exhibition visitors and people at the booths. I call this my man on the street reporting. I would say the key word for this conference is CONFIDENCE. People have a sense that Linux is for real and we're gaining market share and providing new solutions and innovation. I plan to submit a more detailed report over the next two days. Right now, so many things exist for me to do. I'm heading off to discuss "device driver development" right now. But, I'll be back!
