Copyright ... Copywrong
The discussion of FOSS in relation to copyright law has been heated. This latest blog entry from James Thompson raises a question that may need to be more thoroughly addressed. As consumers in a digital age have we not also become publishers too, and how does that new role impact how we should view copyright.

Historically copyright was intended to protect authors and consumers from publishers. But in a digital age when we all are potential publishers how should copyright be viewed? Do authors still have rights, do consumer's rights trump those of the author? Even though we are now the potential publishers that copyright is suppose to protect against? This blog introduces a new question that needs more examination and careful scrutiny as FOSS moves forward. Full Story |
