The Tor Project is proud to announce the general availability of a new stable branch of the widely-used Tor software for anonymity online. The Tor 0.2.8 series is currently the most advanced one.

Tor 0.2.8 stable branch has been in development for the past several months, during which the development team managed to implement over 300 changes. The biggest new features since Tor 0.2.7 are performance improvements to client bootstrapping, production-ready authority-side implementation for better identity keys for relays, as well as new security features for Linux OSes.

Tor helps you communicate with anyone anonymously on the Internet and prevents people or government agencies from learning your browsing habits or location. Always use Tor if you don't want to be tracked or monitored while surfing the Web.
