The Evolve OS team is pleased to announce the immediate availability of Evolve OS Beta 1.1. This release focuses on stability and on bringing the core system up to scratch. Please note that as this is an update to beta 1, changes that are intended for beta 2 (such as UEFI support) are be present. Also note Evolve OS is only available as a 64-bit system. Core changes: Linux kernel 3.19.1, GCC 4.9.2, Clang/LLVM 3.5.0, systemd 218. Many Evolve OS packages are now being built with Clang by default and, as such, we have begun to reduce the overall footprint of the system. A live boot Evolve OS beta 1.1 (via USB) will use around 185 - 190 MB of RAM idle on a Thinkpad X1 Carbon, and boots in 2.3 seconds on an Intel NUC (D54250WYK) installation. With our last ISO image some users were unable to boot due to a conflict regarding USB 3. This has since been resolved.
