Systemd fallout: Two Debian technical panel members resign: Two well-known and experienced Debian developers, both members of the project's technical committee, have announced they will be leaving the committee.
Developer Leaves Debian Systemd Maintainer Team After Constant Attacks: The Debian and systemd debate has pushed yet another developer to quit an important role in the Debian project. Tollef Fog Heen has resigned his position because of the constant attacks regarding the implementation of systemd in Debian.
Pear OS Linux Concept Revived as Pearl Linux 1.0: Pear OS Linux was a very successful Linux distribution based on Ubuntu that wanted to provide an experience similar to Mac OS X. That operating system is gone now, but Pearl Linux wants to replace it. The fact that Pear OS Linux provided an almost 1 to 1 parity to the features of the Mac OS X desktop, with the normal differences that you would expect, is also the reason why it disappeared. It's still unclear what happened though.

Systemd fallout: Debian fork Devuan set up: A group styling itself as veteran UNIX administrators has announced that it has set up a fork of the Debian GNU/Linux project. Named Devuan, the fork comes as a reaction to the Debian decision to adopt systemd as the default init system for its next release, Jessie.
Devuan -- forking Debian without systemd: Devuan (pronounced "Dev One") aims to be a base distribution whose mission is protect the freedom of its community of users and developers. Its priority is to enable diversity, interoperability and backward compatibility for existing Debian users and downstream distributions willing to preserve Init freedom.
Debian, Ubuntu Touch & More…: While we in the States were dealing with family and turkey, the EU was busy working on preparing Google’s head for the platter. The European Parliament yesterday passed by a wide margin a non-binding resolution urging anti-trust regulators to break up the company. For those keeping score, the final vote was 384 yeas and 174 nays.
