In the lead up to Ubuntu 14.10's release this is the first part in a series of articles showing how to use the Unity desktop environment and how to do the basics with Ubuntu. It highlights how to use the launcher, how to add and remove icons, what the different colours, arrows and effects mean and how to tweak the launcher to resize icons and hide the launcher when not in use.
