Is the Samsung Galaxy Note Pro tablet just too darned big?

In today's open source roundup: The Samsung Galaxy Note Pro is a whopping 12-inch tablet! Plus: A review of Linux Mint Debian Edition 201403, and CoderDojo teaches young people technology skills.

I'm not sure I see the point of the Galaxy Note Pro. For $700 you can pretty much get a laptop that would provide a real keyboard for productivity tasks. Why bother with a tablet if you can use a laptop for work instead? No tablet can match a good laptop when you need to get work done, not even a tablet this big.

For entertainment and fun, I can't imagine reclining on the couch with this sucker. It's just too darned big. Then again I am a bit of a luddite when it come to larger devices. I prefer thinner and smaller for the most part. I've found that mobile devices that fit in my hand (smaller phones, ipods, etc.) work the best for me. Your mileage may vary, however.
