Clement Lefebvre proudly announced a few minutes ago that the final bits of the highly anticipated Linux Mint 16 operating system were available for download.

Actually, Softpedia was the first to announce yesterday, November 29, 2013, that Linux Mint 16 final was available for download, even if no official release announcement was available at that time on the official website of the Linux Mint project.

Today, November 30, 2013, Clement Lefebvre posted the announcements for Linux Mint 16 Cinnamon and Linux Mint 16 MATE editions, which are exactly the same as the ones from the Release Candidate version.

After six months of hard work, Linux Mint 16 (Petra) is finally here, bringing the latest and greatest open source Linux technologies, and those of you who were wondering if Softpedia posted a fake announcement about the final release of Linux Mint 16, can now be assured that it was the real thing.
