The development team behind Rhythmbox, an integrated music management application for GNOME, originally inspired by Apple's iTunes app, proudly announced last evening, September 4, 2013, the immediate availability for download of Rhythmbox 3.0.

Dubbed "I Eat Tapes," Rhythmbox 3.0 has been completely ported to Python 3, including its plugins. Moreover, support for composer tags has been added, as well as a brand-new task progress, which is displayed below the track list and used for import tasks or track transfers.
Rhythmbox 3.0 also introduces revamped playback controls, revamped source list, better introspection of everything, and better use of RTL icons. Also, the playlist settings are now saved in playlists.xml, and the VBR and CBR encoding styles were separated with different sets of exposed properties.
Among the bugs squashed by this major release of Rhythmbox, we can mention im-status plugin load issues, missing macros/Makefile.in, replaygain crashes, erroneous desktop file categories, IM status issues, missing shortcuts, XI_BadDevice errors, browser visibility issues, incorrect time when track changes, as well as issues with unmaximizing the main window by double clicking on the titlebar.
Moreover, support for composer/Music Director ID3 tag has been added in Rhythmbox 3.0, short labels are now used in toolbar, the man page for rhythmbox-client has been updated, an app menu is now provided, the custom recording settings have been improved, and the Ctrl+Space keyboard shortcut for pausing/playing the current track has been re-implemented.
