The developers behind the File Roller (file-roller) application, the default archive manager for the GNOME desktop environment, announced yesterday, July 2, the immediate availability for download and update of File Roller 3.8.3.

File Roller 3.8.3 fixes saving of new archives in the selected destination, fixes some libarchive issues with sanitizing file names before extracting, and the "save as" bug has been repaired.

Arch Linux users are the first to have the new File Roller 3.8.3 package in their current installation. More distros will probably update it as soon as possible.

Last but not least, the following translations have been updated in this stable release of GNOME's default archive manager application: Chinese Simplified, Finnish and Japanese.
