Now that Debian 7 "Wheezy" has been officially released and it's ready to be installed on your Linux-powered computers, the developers can concentrate their full resources on the next major release, Debian 8.

Dubbed Jessie, Debian 8 is now officially in development, as announced by Matthias Klose last week. The distro already received some updates for the Linux kernel headers, the GCC compiler, and the glibc library.
Therefore, the Linux kernel packages has been updated to version 3.8.11, GCC will also be upgraded to the 4.8 version, Glibc has been updated to version 2.17, and the binutils 2.23.2 package will be part of the Debian 8 release. Full Story |
