iPad mini : copycat / end of innovation for Apple ?

Is Apple losing its mojo ? The iPad mini is clearly a reaction to already attacked market segment (ASUS/Google Nexus 7 and Amazon Kindle). What does it mean for Apple customers ? Shareholders ?

Is this a clear sign that open ecosystems (Android/Linux) increase the innovation of any technology and, as a consequence, will dominate the market ?
