Welcome to our first ever movie review at +The Powerbase. I can’t predict the future, but I can say that we probably won’t be doing many more of them. Today is a special case however, as the guys over at Humble Bundle, producers of many fine cross-platform gaming bundles, gave away a special gift to those who spent more than the average purchase price.

The latest Humble Botanicula Bundle is certainly a mixed bag. Mind you, I always pay above the average amount as a bare minimum and am happy to unlock the extras. Yesterday I paid $9 for this latest bundle, only $1 lower than the average Linux purchase, though in this instance I would not have been surprised if Linux users paid the least. The base bundle comes with 3 games. Machinarium, Samorost 2, and the headliner game, Botanicula. Botanicula requires Adobe Air to play, which is no longer supported in Linux, while Samorost 2 and Machinarium require Adobe Flash. Machinarium I already owned from another bundle, so honestly from my perspective, this bundle offers little to no value for Linux users. Thank goodness for Kooky.

Let me preface this review by saying that I didn’t buy the Humble Botanicula Bundle for movies, nor did I expect Kooky to be a feature length film. In fact, when I notice that the download size for it was 15GB, I started to get a little giddy, wondering to myself what sort of gaming excellence lies within this dense bundle of data. Of course upon opening the folder, I found an MP4 file.
