Open Octave Studio is a free and open source music production software and digital audio workstation (DAW). Open Octave Studio doesn't charge any licensing fees but have lots of features at par with many other commercial solutions. The application is written in Qt and you can install 2011 version on Linux by following instructions from here. Now Open Octave Studio 2012 is coming and they need your help in raising $50,000. These funds will be used to pay developers who are working on bringing new features. If the project is successful in raising $50k, you can win a computer powered by Intel i7, 24 GB RAM and 3TB Hard Drive.
