AMD Open Sources Radeon HD 7000 Driver

AMD has announced yesterday, March 20th, that it has released the open source driver code that supports the Radeon HD 7000 "Southern Islands" series graphics cards.

Michael Larabel from Phoronix is the first to announce this news, reporting that the video driver brings initial support for DCE6 display watermark, support for the Southern Islands internal thermal sensor, support for CRTC power-gating, support for SI GPU reset, and a VM CS (Command Stream) checker.
The code published by AMD should land in the upcoming Linux 3.4 kernel, which will be released later this year. Full Story |
