Transmission developers announced a few days ago that the first Beta release of the upcoming Transmission 2.50 torrent client for Linux, Mac OS and Windows platforms is available for download and testing.

Transmission 2.50 Beta 1 brings lots of fixes and improvements in many areas and for all platforms. Among the highlights we can mention better support for downloading webseeds with large files, the bandwidth is now distributed fairer across connected peers, and the calculation of undownloaded portions of large torrents eats less CPU.

A egression that broke the "--minimized" command-line argument was fixed, the notifications now use the org.freedesktop.Notifications DBus API instead of notify-send, and a handful of small memory leaks were fixed.

FTB was fixed when building without support for libuTP on Debian Linux.
