LTSP-Cluster can scale up to several thousands thin clients providing an enterprise-class infrastructure (load balancing, high availability, central management, monitoring) as well as large-scale remote access (Citrix like) for thousands of users at a fraction of the cost of a proprietary equivalent using open source technologies.

LTSP-Cluster has been developed as a patch to be deployed on top of LTSP for years (2003-2009) for several school districts in Quebec. In 2009, the project was completely re-integrated into LTSP and now provides a scalable platform for large scale, entreprise grade thin-client deployment. LTSP-Cluster is 100% Open Source (License GPL).

LTSP-Cluster support Windows terminal services and Linux terminal services : they can be integrated seamlessly ( youtube video ) in order to provide easy migration from Windows to Linux.

LTSP-Cluster allow organizations worlwide to become greener : central management, every use can be supported remotely and modern thin-client power consumption is 15W and they can be centrally shut-down and power up. Energy saving can vary between a tenth and a quarter compared to a regular desktop.
