Fedora Core 3 tests new security model

Red Hat last week released Fedora Core 3, the latest version of its cutting-edge Linux distribution, including a redesigned version of Security Enhanced Linux (SE Linux). While the software is aimed at developers and enthusiasts, it is seen as a testing ground for technologies that can later be built into the enterprise distribution, Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). Microsoft Claims Mozilla Firefox Not a Threat to IE

ZDNet Australia is reporting that Microsoft does not believe Mozilla Firefox is a threat to Internet Explorer. Steve Vamos, who heads the software giant's Austrialian operation, does not believe IE's market share is under attack from Firefox. "I'm not sure that that is the reality," he said. "I have seen comments around that but there is nothing I can refer to that really supports that." Vamos admitted that he has never used Firefox.

Venezuela's National Assembly (AN) has started a debate on a bill to implement “free software” in government institutions ... the proposal was introduced October 21 by AN deputy Luis Tascon and urges the five independent branches of Government: Executive, Legislative, Judiciary, Moral and Electoral including all official entities to adopt free software as an exclusive working platform via the GNU/Linux operative system.
