Free World Dialup summer 2007 relaunch project
Dear Fellow FWD'er, I am reaching out to you as a part of a membership drive. Jeff Pulver asked me to lead a relaunch project to preserve FWD's status as a key destination for the people pioneering the new communications landscape. The existing FWD services will remain free, but we are implementing a membership model to fund new services and make FWD self-sustaining. Nearly one million people participated in FWD activities over the last 12 years. FWD initiatives include the first VoIP-PSTN interconnect (1995), H.323 interoperability (1998), free SIP registration services (2002), SIP Peering (2003), FCC's Pulver Order (2004), SIP based Video (2005), and prior art for VoIP patents (2007). My roots with FWD trace to contributions on the founding technical team while still at Bell Labs in 1995. Next up - projects enabling mobile VoIP via single mode and dual mode Wi-Fi handsets. Ways to participate: 1) Join as an official member of FWD - $30/year for individuals ($300/yr for businesses) to receive the member only newsletter and become a card carrying member of the IP Communications Revolution - via http://www.fwdlive.com/membership . ** Join Jeff Pulver for weekly FWD member Q&A conference calls starting Thursday, July 12, 2007. ** 2) Subscribe to fwdnews@fwdlive.com (send email with "subscribe" in Subject to fwdnews-subscribe@fwdlive.com). The moderated announcement list will distribute postings about innovative IP Communications products and services submitted by the FWD community. 3) Join David Beckemeyer, CEO, PhoneGnome in sponsoring FWD (see info about PhoneGnome below). We set the goal of doubling FWD membership over the next 12 months, so please fo rward this note to friends. Best regards, Dan
