2007 Spring, the latest and greatest Mandriva Linux release.

Metisse enhanced desktop, significant improvements and fixes to the
Mandriva configuration tools and enhanced hardware compatibility,
2007 Spring is the best Mandriva Linux yet. To find out more about

Mandriva Flash 4GB released
The second new release of the issue is the updated and expanded
Mandriva Flash. Mandriva Flash is quite simply a USB Flash storage
drive with Mandriva Linux 2007 pre-installed and bootable from the
drive, allowing you to carry a full copy of Mandriva Linux around
with you wherever you go and boot it from almost any PC. The initial
2GB Mandriva Flash release was a great success and sold out several
production runs. Now, following user feedback, we have made Flash
even better: it now comes on a 4GB key, and you can decide how much
space is dedicated to the system and how much is free space for
users, allowing you to set the perfect balance between having space
to install extra applications and having space for your files and
documents. This new revision has also been updated with all the
latest official updates for Mandriva Linux 2007, and we will be
providing an upgrade path for Flash to be upgraded to Mandriva Linux
2007 Spring. Don't delay - buy yours today!

Mandriva Linux 2007 Spring Reviews
The first crop of reviews of the new Mandriva Linux 2007 Spring have
arrived. A review by Susan Linton was published in Distrowatch
Weekly, which took a close look at the appearance and features of
2007 Spring and concluded "it's a nice system taken as a whole".
Susan also took a quick look at Mandriva Flash and decided that
"Mandriva Flash is definitely the way to go if you're looking for a
portable system". Ladislav Bodnar, the Distrowatch editor, also
chipped in his report on upgrading to 2007 Spring, reporting that he
"had no troubles at all with Mandriva 2007 [Spring] while using KDE
with Compiz".
Linux.com also took a look at 2007 Spring, and were very impressed.
Their reviewer tested out all the new features of 2007 Spring
Powerpack and praised its package selection and hardware detection
before concluding that "Powerpack Spring is a fantastic Linux
distribution that just works".
Finally, LunaPark6 took a look at the Free and One editions of 2007
Spring. They had some problems using hardware which required
proprietary drivers with the Free edition, but were very impressed by
One, saying "if you want a Linux distro that is easy to use and has a
bright colorful look, [2007 Spring One] would make a great choice".

Mandriva Linux 2007 Spring virtualization guide
One of the big improved features of Mandriva Linux 2007 Spring is
virtualization support. 2007 Spring includes several virtualization
tools, particularly the VirtualBox desktop virtualization
application. However, many users aren't sure what they could use
virtualization for, or how to do it. We published a guide on the
Mandriva Club which gives you a few ideas on how virtualization might
be useful to you, and walks you through the use of VirtualBox step by
step. It also includes short guides on using Xen, VMware Server and
qemu.

Interview with Sebastian Trüg, lead developer of k3b
k3b is one of the most important applications for many Linux users.
The immensely popular and fully-featured CD / DVD writing application
has been a mainstay of the standard Linux desktop since its early
releases. Since last year, Sebastian Trüg, the initial author and
present lead developer of k3b, has been employed by Mandriva both to
work on k3b and to work on the Nepomuk desktop project. We asked
Sebastian a few questions about k3b, Mandriva and Nepomuk and posted
his answers on the Mandriva Club.

Correction to promotional e-mail regarding Mastering Mandriva Linux 2007 Spring
A correction: in a mail entitled "All your questions about Mandriva
Linux answered at once!" which was sent to those who choose to
receive promotional Mandriva emails, we wrote that the Mastering
Mandriva Linux 2007 Spring guide was "written by the Mandriva
documentation team". This is not correct. The guide was written by
NeoDoc, an independent company. The former Mandriva documentation
team set up NeoDoc after the release of Mandrake Linux 10.0, and have
produced all the documentation for releases since then as an
independent company. We apologize to them for the error.
