SCALE preps mini-conferences, T-Shirts.
Both mini-conferences to be held at the So Cal Linux Expo are ready. The Women in Open Source conference will explore the obstacles that women face in breaking into the technology industry. This conference has well-known speakers such as Stormy Peters of OpenLogic, a frequent keynote speaker at major conferences, and Celeste Paul, from the KDE Usability Project. The full WIOS speaker schedule can be seen at http://socallinuxexpo.com/wios07/index.php. The Open Source Health Care Summit will focus on the use of open-source software in the health care industry. Among others, Scotte Shreeve, a co-founder of Medsphere Systems Corporation, will speak. Also on the Summit speaker list are Fred Trotter, the director of medical software for Uversa, and project manager for ClearHealth, and Shawn Bellina, the CTO of the Comprehensive Cancer Institute. There are a few BOF (Birds Of a Feather) session slots still available at SCALE on Sunday, February 10th. If your group needs a meeting room for a BOF, contact gareth@socallinuxexpo.com to reserve one. The deadline for BOF reservations is February 2nd. NOTE: Those who register before that date will get a nice cloth SCALE tote bag, with a limited edition SCALE 5x T-shirt inside.
