Here's hoping you find a penguin under your tree this year!

Some of us are celebrating the birth of a Savior. Others are celebrating other things. We're all celebrating a moment's peace in the midst of the daily rush of life. I thought I would just take a moment to encourage us to celebrate our software freedom. Whatever your views, whatever you've contributed, whether you believe in copyleft licenses or not, take just a moment and celebrate the freedom that so many of us have come to experience in the realm of technology. We have discovered that we can solve our own problems. We can have control over the software we use. We can even become programmers and find our dream jobs as system administrators. We have been both, liberated and empowered.

If there is one thing I wish I could find under the ole Christmas Tree this year, it would be a news headline declaring that Steve Ballmer had finally learned to control his tongue. Of course, I wouldn't cry about having a tablet PC or a nice laptop with Debian pre-installed either. May each of you be blessed to find a pre-installed GNU/Linux system when you wake up this morning. If not that, then maybe you'll at least find one of those cute and cuddly stuffed penguins.

On behalf of LXer and the editorial team, I wish you a Merry Christmas, and Happy Holidays!
