Combined Solution Offers Sophisticated Enterprise-Grade Storage Services While Doubling The I/O Performance of Fibre Channel

SUNNYVALE, Calif. and MUNICH, Germany, March 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Chelsio Communications Inc., the leading provider of iSCSI acceleration adapter and ASIC solutions, and Open-E GmbH a leading developer of add-on storage software modules that turns industry-standard servers into storage appliances, today announced an optimized combination of their solutions for delivering high performance enterprise-grade data management.

Customers leveraging Open-E Enterprise Edition NAS and iSCSI software with Chelsio T204 quad-port GbE and T210 10GbE adapters can implement the highest performance IP San and NAS networks operating at speeds that are two times faster than Fibre Channel.

"Open-E recognizes the real world business advantages of using 10GbE iSCSI," said Krzysztof Franek, managing director, Open-E. "Leveraging Chelsio's GbE and 10GbE TOE/iSCSI adapter and iSCSI target stack solutions with Open-E Enterprise Edition NAS and iSCSI software provides our mutual customers with new levels of performance that can reduce the overall complexities and costs associated with a dynamic storage environment."

Open-E NAS and iSCSI software applications are modules with a built-in, fully configured Linux-based operating system. The module plugs into a standard server motherboard and turns the server on, automatically installing the operating system and handling configuration.

"We are pleased to be able to offer customers a solution based on our collaborative effort with Open-E," said Kianoosh Naghshineh, president and CEO of Chelsio. "This combination provides a lower total cost of ownership relative to InfiniBand and Fibre Channel fabrics while delivering a full feature set. The high transaction rate made possible by TOE technology will be attractive to customers seeking to bring exceptional performance to their storage environments and is poised to accelerate iSCSI and TOE adoption in the enterprise data center."

The combined Open-E and Chelsio storage solution will be available for storage OEMs, storage solution integrators, storage VARs and end users starting in Q2 2006. CeBIT - Hall 1, Stand F81

The Open-E NAS and iSCSI software leveraging Chelsio's GbE and 10GbE TOE/iSCSI adapter will be presented for the first time at the CeBIT fair in Hannover, Germany from March 9-15, 2006. Open-E will be at CeBIT in Hall 1, Stand F81. About Open-E GmbH
