CMP Media's VARBusiness Magazine Names Finalists in Tech Innovator Awards Competition
The program represents all major categories of technology products. VARBusiness magazine, which covers the business of technology integration, will honor the winners and finalists at an awards event to be held on Oct. 20, at the Hilton in San Francisco, in conjunction with the XChange Tech Innovators Conference. In addition, those companies will be recognized in the VARBusiness Dec. 19 "State of Technology" issue, which includes profiles, features and in-depth explanations of the technologies and products. Industry interest in the competition, introduced in 2003, continues to grow. The 2005 program drew more than 500 applications, compared with 466 in 2004. In addition, the number of categories was increased to 11 from nine. "The Tech Innovator Awards define new growth opportunities for our solution-provider readers," says VARBusiness Editor Lawrence M. Walsh. "The advances of the selected vendors have been absolutely outstanding." The awards program is for products introduced, upgraded or completely revised during 2005, in 11 categories. The VARBusiness Tech Innovators event is an integral component of CMP Media's XChange Tech Innovators Conference, being held Oct. 19-21, at The Fairmont in San Francisco. XChange Conferences are the premier face-to-face channel events where numerous opportunities are provided for information-technology vendors, distributors and solution providers to meet and define their partnerships. APC, Cisco Lexmark, and Toshiba are the 2005 VARBusiness Tech Innovator Awards program sponsors. Methodology Nominated products were judged in two stages: a first-round examination by VARBusiness' team of technology editors, followed by a final selection by a panel of judges assembled from the solution-provider community. These judges ran the gamut in terms of knowledge and skill sets, from security technologies to network infrastructure to application development. Judges scored products on number of criteria: how new and improved the technology is, its price/performance ratio and finally, its money-making potential for solution providers.
