Stats from Ohio Linux Fest
Over 550 registered for the event. We've had something like 300 showed up, and this about 3 as many people as showed up last year. The turn-out for speaking events was phenominal, with rooms mostly full and people attending through from beginning to end of each session. The enthusiasm from attendees is high -- a lot of smiling faces, a lot of collaboration, a lot of out-of-session groups enjoying the event and each others' company. There's a story here of community. Jon (Maddog) Hall helped save the event by providing last minute funding, which IBM quickly covered. The planners have chosen a format that works (the time is just right, not too long, not too short) and the venue is perfect. Mike Meffie (One of the founding memebers of the event and an active member of Canton Linux Enthusiasts) described the event and success as "Phenomenal". If things grow again like this next year, the event may eclipse 1000 attendees... There are vendor tables, multiple raffle prizes (funding the event), WIFI access (the usual geek stuff, in other words). A great time. |
