This issue's Better Mozilla, our regular section for ways of enhancing
Mozilla products, is dedicated to Mozilla Firebird (technology
preview), the stand alone browser.
And for those who are still looking for late gifts for this holiday
season, year end celebrations or just enjoy the winter for North
Hemisphere readers, consider Mozilla Coffee. RJ Tarpley's Coffee
Company offers several Mozilla branded coffee blends, and half of the
profits go to the Mozilla Foundation. Among other novelties, RJ will
be offering soon a new packaging featuring the Mozilla coffee logo;
will be available at the Mozilla store; and will proudly introduce a
new blend of non-pesticide, non-fertilizer grown coffee from the
Maquipucuna Reserve in northwest Ecuador. The profits raised by the
Maquipucuna Foundation (http://www.arches.uga.edu/~maqui/) support the
foundation and residents, so you will have the chance to support two
non-profits in a single fragrant buy!
RJ Tarpley's is offering a discount coupon to Mozilla Links
subscribers. Just type the word "mozilla" in the coupon code section
of the order form and you will get $5 off the purchase of 5 lb of
coffee.
Order your Mozilla Coffee now, here:

Featured Extension: RSS Reader Panel (for Mozilla Firebird)
For those who haven't heard about RSS (Really Simple Syndication), it
is a standardized format for presenting news, so that they can be
easily collected and compiled by dedicated applications.
RSS Reader Panel, is a simple and powerful extension that adds a news
panel to the sidebar. RSS feeds are kept among your bookmarks in a
particular folder you choose (by default RSS List). The bookmarks in
this special folder are displayed in the upper section, items from an
RSS feed are displayed below, and all you have to do is click on any
news item and it will be displayed on the main content window. To add
a feed you simply drag an RSS feed link (commonly an RSS or RDF file),
available at many websites.
Give it a try to discover the power of RSS:
http://fls.moo.jp/moz/rssreader.html
Take a look at these popular RSS feeds. Look for an RSS or XML button
that links to an RSS or RDF file, and drag it to the RSS Reader Panel.

Mozilla Links Tip: Don't Download, Autodownload
If you like to download and tired of telling Mozilla Firebird where to
save them, you can configure it to save your downloads automatically
to your prefered folder. To do this:
- In the "Tools" menu, select "Options".
- In the Options window, selecte "Downloads".
- Check "Save all files to this folder".
- Browse to the folder you want your downloads be automatically saved.
Now, you're done. The next time you download a file it will be saved
to the selected folder.

Mozilla Links PowerTip: Change The Search Box Size & Sidebar Position
(contributed by David Tenser's Mozilla Firebird website)
These tips apply for Mozilla Firebird (technology preview). You will
need to edit the userChrome.css filewhich is located in your profile
folder. In Windows
- Right-click on the "Start" button, and select "Open".
- When the Explorer window opens, go one level up.
- Browse to Application DataPhoenixProfileschrome
- Open userChrome.css with any text editor. If there is no such a
file, open userChrome-example.css and save it later as userChrome.css
at the same location.
To display the Sidebar on the right side of the window instead of the
left, add the following code to your userChrome.css file:
/* Place the sidebar on the right edge of the window */
window > hbox {
direction:rtl;
}
window > hbox > * {
direction:ltr;
}
If you like Mozilla Firebird's search bar but find it too small, you
can set a new size for it, and even better, make it flexible so it
will resize with the whole window, just like the location bar. Add the
following code:
/* Make the Search box flex wider */
#search-container {
-moz-box-flex: 400 !important;
}
