Linux, Linux, everywhere!
Every year there are articles published about this being the "Year of Linux". I read many of them and I realized that there is no specific "Year of Linux". I also wrote my own article arguing that every year is the year of Linux and as the Linux market share grows, one day we will realize that Linux is everywhere.
Usage Based Billing is a joke and a major scam.

A tip for software companies.
It amazes me that so many times people who are in charge of large and small software companies make dumb decisions. They get nice salaries but often make decisions that come back and bite them later on. One good strategy for any large or small company that is lagging behind on the Windows or Mac OS market is to create software for GNU/Linux. Linux is growing as a platform and has millions of users worldwide.
The best anti-virus out there!
Last week my mom forwarded an email to me and I started to laugh. The email was to warn me about a virus that is spreading and destroying peoples data.
Why have you switched to GNU/Linux?
There are many reasons to switch to GNU/Linux. What is yours? A long time ago when I was using Windows I realized that many applications were trying to constrain me from doing certain tasks. I was unable to play a certain format or had to install applications that I did not want on my system. I started to think critically as to why I am using Windows and if there is some kind of alternative that I could use instead. Prior to this, I used Mac OS but I knew that both operating systems are proprietary and want to limit the end user. I got tired of being manipulated to use a particular application and having bloatware already pre-installed on my computer. After searching the Internet for alternatives to Mac OS and Windows I found this really cool concept that is called Linux. I didn't know much about the OS but gave it a shot. I played around with several distributions till I found one that fit my needs. When I started using Linux, which was more than a decade ago it was still relatively hard to use and it was mostly for hobbyists.
The growth of Linux in developing regions
Since I started my Blog I noticed an interesting trend. A lot of the readers and individuals who link to my Blog are from developing regions around the world such as China, India, Indonesia and Central/South America.
A Tip for Software companies.

Mac computers are restrictive.
Now that University classes have started I see a lot of students with new Apple laptops. It seems that half of the student population own a Mac. Few years back you would never see so many Apple computers as you do today on campus.
Its about the market share.
The market share of an OS is important. The larger the market share the more companies take notice and create products for the platform.
Lets work together.
The Linux community is very fragmented. This does not have to be a bad thing at all. Diversity is important for innovation and choice for users. However, because there are so many different projects, people sometimes get at other Linux users within the community.
At the expense of GNU/Linux.
This article is based on a true story. The names have been changed to protect the individuals involved. It all occurred in a government department where an IT lady had a great idea about converting their computers to GNU/Linux. Let's call her Gillian. Gillian was assigned to research GNU/Linux...
First they bash it, then they use it.
Human beings are very interesting creatures. Their behaviour is very unpredictable and often illogical. They have emotions and feelings that drive them to do certain things. My Blog is about promoting GNU/Linux and technology.
Run, the Communists are coming!
GNU/Linux gets attacked from so many different angles. It is hilarious to read some of the comments and allegations that are made against it. I find one particular allegation hilarious and it equates GNU/Linux to Communists. So, here we go...

Please stay away from GNU/Linux. Don't say I haven't warned you!
Microsoft's monopoly crumbling
Microsoft's monopoly is being threatened from all sides. In the past, Microsoft used to be untouchable. Today, things seem to be shifting drastically. Microsoft still has a monopoly on the desktop computer market but it is being threatened from numerous sides. The latest threat is coming from Google who is creating their own operating system and competing head on with Microsoft Windows.
Why haven't you heard of Linux.
Apple and Microsoft have millions to finance their marketing campaigns. GNU/Linux on the other hand is a totally different story.
90% of computers controlled by one company?
When a company controls 90% of computers around the globe it should make us think. A monopoly stifles competition, innovation and raises prices. Gnu/Linux is a great alternative to Microsoft Windows and Mac OS.
