Is Bing biased against Ubuntu?
As many of you know, part of my popularity analysis of GNU/Linux distributions includes search engine results. One thing I immediately noticed when I started analyzing the data was how fewer results Bing has compared to Google specifically for the term "Ubuntu Linux". At first, I thought that perhaps Bing simply hasn't indexed as much as Google and it will catch up. But over several ranking periods now, Bing is still, in my opinion, unusually low in "Ubuntu Linux" results.

The DistroRank Weekly Popularity Rankings have now been posted for the week of 3/21/2103. Ladies and Gentlemen, we have several slug-fests going on here: Arch holds onto the number 4 spot, but Debian is within 13% of overtaking it.

The DistroRank Weekly Popularity Rankings have now been posted for the week of 3/14/2103. Debian and Arch swap positions again - very close data between those two well-respected and popular distributions.

The DistroRank Weekly Popularity Rankings have now been posted for the week of 3/7/2103. We had a little movement in the top 10 this week. Debian moved up one spot to number 4 while Arch fell to number 5.
Weekly DistroRank Linux & BSD rankings posted for 2/28/13
Some big movement this week in the popularity rankings! While the top ranks are unshakable, SnowLinux gets a huge bump up 2 spots to number 17.
New DistroRank daily user survey rankings added
DistroRank is now publishing daily rankings from the user-submitted survey data only, in addition to the weekly compiled official rankings.
Weekly DistroRank Linux & BSD rankings posted
The DistroRank Weekly Popularity Rankings have been now posted. There was a slight trend downward in most of the raw data from last week. The only two changes are Damn Small Linux rose one place to number 11 and Frugalware fell one place to number 12.
New site ranks Linux and BSD popularity
A new site aims to more scientifically study and rank the relative popularity among Linux and BSD distros. Using multiple data sources, distros are ranked according to popularity factors, such as the number of news articles published about that distro, search engine results and visitor surveys.
