Xandros today launched Xandros Server Standard Edition 2, a complete, enterprise-grade SMB Linux server package including Xen virtualization and more than 30 other services. The new Xandros Linux server is compatible with existing Windows domain and networking topologies.

Comodo today the launch of Red Hat- and CentOS-based versions of their back office server suite, Zero Touch Linux (ZTL). Several months ago, the Fedora Board (in consultation with Red Hat Engineering) decided to increase the length of time that Fedora releases are supported, in terms of updates. This decision was retroactively applied to Fedora Core 5, allowing it to remain a fully maintained release for several months longer than it would have under the old policy. Fedora Core 5 will reach its End of Life for updates on Friday June 29th, 2007.

Wine 0.9.36 was released today with Midi support in the CoreAudio driver, mixer support in the Alsa driver, a few MSI fixes, implementation for most D3DRM functions, the usual assortment of Direct3D fixes and bug fixes.

Adobe Systems Incorporated today announced plans to release source code for Adobe Flex as open source. This initiative will let developers worldwide participate in the growth of the industry’s most advanced framework for building cross-operating system rich Internet applications (RIAs) for the Web and enabling new Apollo applications for the desktop. The open source Flex SDK and documentation will be available under the Mozilla Public License (MPL).

The Debian project is proud that it has been accepted by Google as a mentor organization for this year's Summer of Code program, with nine tasks in total. Google will fund the students mentioned below to work full time on these tasks during their summer vacation, from May 28th to August 20th. They will be guided and evaluated during this time by active Debian developers.

Xandros today announced that Xandros Server 2.0 is the first product to be certified by the Linux Foundation through use of the LSB Distribution Testkit (LSB DTK). Xandros engineers worked closely with their Linux Foundation counterparts in perfecting the new, automated testing procedures that will facilitate broad application developer support to Xandros Server 2.0 and all other standards-based Linux operating systems.

The Ubuntu team is proud to announce version 7.04 of the Ubuntu family of distributions. Ubuntu 7.04 is also the basis for new 7.04 releases of Kubuntu and Edubuntu. Ubuntu 7.04 will be supported for 18 months on both desktops and servers.
