Ubuntu may drop Nautilus 3.6 from Quantal!?
These are really interesting news that come directly from Ubuntu’s Sebastien Bacher in Launchpad Bug Tracker. Sebastian basically says that Ubuntu cannot follow Gnome upstream as Gnome lack to plan their work in advance or communicate enough with Ubuntu about their new features.
Sebastian also says that Ubuntu might use Nautilus 3.4 or Nemo or Marlin. Ubuntu puts the pressure in Gnome for sure!
Removal of Categories in Gnome Shell? Won’t happen!
There were lot of voices against the replacement of categories with pagination, and that was another controversial feature originally planned for Gnome 3.6. Guess what. It won’t happen.

Gjs + Clutter Samples | Create some simple Actors
I have spend endless hours playing Nibbles (Gnome Snake Game) in the past, but this game now feels old. So I decided to write my own Snake Game for Gnome. I will use Clutter and JavaScript which is quite powerful combination, and I though to make some samples here, to enable people to write their own Gnome Apps.
I’ll make some tutorials, in image/text processing, event driven programming, effects / animations / timelines, drawing with Cairo and Cogl and finally a simple Graph Scene.

A preview of Gnome Disks 3.6
Red Hater David Zeuthen in his blog introduces all the new features in Gnome Disks 3.6 and also refers to the upcoming new options for Gnome 3.8. There are some nice additions; some are just optics and some are useful tools, but in my opinion not everything is perfect and complete.

Summer is when most people in the world spend their holidays, and spending holidays means having some free time to spend. One of the best things to do with that free time of yours is to relax through a good book reading.
Speed Up with Midori
Sometimes, human minds get stuck without a reason between two options, jumping from the one to the other, never finding exactly what they are looking for. This is what happens to most people with today’s browsers. Almost no one completely likes Firefox and Chrome for their own personal reasons, but everyone keeps trying both when a newer version becomes available. Time to make a step towards something “greener” and give Midori a try!
Simple playback with MediaBox
MediaBox is the most simplistic media player you’ll ever use. It uses GStreamer and is able to playback all the files supported by it.
This means that you can play both music and video files using MediaBox to do it, using very little resources and a very simple way to choose the files you want to playback.

Kororaa 17: What Fedora should be
Let’s be realistic for a moment here. I believe that there is not a single Fedora user who doesn’t use repositories that conflict with Fedora’s policy and default selection ideology. Not even the most hardcore Fedora developers can use the completely useless system that Fedora is out of the box, without adding third party sources and pieces of proprietary software.
yorba, a modern Gnome company!
Some days ago I had posted about the new upcoming Gnome mail application and a reader let a comment about Geary. What is Geary? A mail client app, written in Vala which seems to share many common design goals with Gnome Mail.
I didn’t know about Geary since then, so I checked it and.. Wow, it is a fantastic App, the best mail client by far, -in its special kind. But this post isn’t about just Geary, it is about this modern company. YORBA!
Marvel-ize your Gnome Shell Theme!
This is a simple guide on how you can hack your Gnome Shell (just a bit!) and make one unique theme just for you.
I used Adwaita as base because everyone has this (but you can do this in every theme), and I also used some Marvel images that you can replace with anything you like.

Gnome Files 3.5.4 first sights
Some hours ago Cosimo Cecchi pushed Nautilus 354 on Git. This is a nice release because we get the first major UI changes. Not all Gnome stack has jumped to 354 yet, so we are going to review each App separately. I used an Ubuntu 12.10 vbox for compiling, because is easier to solve dependencies there.
