The KDE on Windows team is not only working on the port of KDE applications and libraries but also on the Windows Installer application: The Kdewin-Installer is supposed to be the preferred way to install KDE applications on Windows. Screenshots at The Coding Studio.

The first beta, codenamed 'Ophrys', for Mandriva Linux 2008.1 is now available. Major new features in this pre-release include: new XML-based package meta-information system; out-of-the-box support for the multimedia keys present on many modern keyboards; Perl has been updated to 5.10; reverted to teTeX as the default TeX system; latest NVIDIA (169.09) and ATI (8.45.2) proprietary drivers; KDE 4.0.0 final available in the Cooker. We kickstart a major development into the next version of openSUSE: openSUSE 11.0. A very early alpha version, Alpha 1, is now available for download and testing. Despite many other products being developed in parallel to Factory, we have seen a heavy stream of development on it, so it is really worth a try if you have time for testing. gOS 2.0 is released into the wild. gOS 2.0 is built on top of Ubuntu Linux 7.10. Instead of the more popular KDE or Gnome desktops, gOS uses the lightweight Enlightenment E17 interface. Rocket comes with Google Gears. This is Google's beta online/offline synchronization technology. GOS 2.0 also includes a new browser-based Web-cam application, gBooth, that was written specifically for gOS. It's designed to work with Facebook. gOS comes with dedicated shortcuts to Google Reader, Talk and Finance and Google search integration into the desktop itself. PCLinuxOS 2008 "MiniME" edition has yet to be officially announced, but it seems that a major new PCLinuxOS build is in the making. Featuring kernel 2.6.22.15, GNOME 2.21.2, GNOME office applications, Firefox 2.0.0.11, Frostwire, Azureus, XMMS, Flash, JRE, a ton of multimedia apps, and much more. This Beta aimed at further polishing of the KDE codebase and we would love to start receiving feedback from testers. Besides the stabilization of the codebase, some minor features have been added, including but not limited to much work on Plasma, the KDE 4 desktop shell.
