Disassembling the Oracle Data Block on Linux

The following document discusses the Oracle bbed tool. The name bbed is an acronym for Block Browser and EDitor and it is shipped with the database. It is intended for Oracle internal use only and the company never publishes any details about it.

The target of this technical exercise is linking "bbed" on Linux to perform block corruption followed by rman block recovery.

Seam Refresh

Following bellow is step by step attempt to reproduce Moinak Gosh’s schema contains several a bit confusing issues raised up along the way . Want to have all that eye candy (desktop coolness) that we have on Linux on your Solaris box. It is still little rough on edges, but it is coming there slowly. Guess soon Solrais will have as stable packages available as there are for Linux distributions. Erwann has posted Compiz 0.5.0 packages for Solaris Nevada/Express on x86 - this is the latest step of several months of work to make this happen.

During OS install both GNOME and KDE desktops were selected as well as all components of all available groups except "Virtualization","Clusters","Clusters Storage" KDE Session has been selected for system login. Firewall and SELINUX have been disabled.

At mean time many people are experiencing problems with installing Solaris Express on PCs with boards based on Marvell Yukon Gigabit PCI-X Ethernet adapter.Version for download from : syskonnect.de may be installed but actually doesn’t work. Workaround for this issue follows bellow.

It's well known that the Jmicron JMB363 SATA,PATA controller is not supported by RHEL AS 4.4 at this time, what causes attempts to install RHEL 4.4 (CentOS 4.4) from IDE CDROM to fail. Work around for mentioned issue follows below.
