The two types of user accounts are Administrator and Standard. The user account created during the installation process is, by default, of the Administrator type. That is the superuser. A user with that account can perform any task on the system.

The latest edition of Pear Linux, Pear Linux 5, has been released. Code-named Sunsprite, based on Ubuntu 12.04, and using (Linux) kernel 3.2, Pear Linux 5 ships with a modified GNOME Shell called Pear Shell.

I hoped to show screen shots from test installations of supported desktop environments, but the GNOME 3 installation was too buggy to use.
