It looks like a fully featured interface for sending SMS messages (with the full conversation history and a proper contact list) an a new plugin to cast on a KDE COnnect powered display are coming to KDE Connect.

Gnome Shell doesn't offer an option to add a trash icon to its Dash. Dock extensions like Ubuntu Dock, Dock to Panel or Dash to Panel don't come with options for this either, so Kerry, an Ubuntu Forums user, created a script that makes it possible to add a dynamic Trash icon to the Ubuntu Dock (Gnome Shell).

It looks like the decision to remove the ability to run binaries and scripts from Nautilus file manager will be reverted. The change comes after some use cases appeared that the developers agreed they need to support, "especially for enterprise and content creators". Also, there's currently a discussion to implement running binaries and scripts in a different, "legacy" way.

The Gnome Shell Dash to Panel extension combines the Dash with the top Gnome panel. The result is a single panel that provides an icon taskbar, the tray, system menu, and date / time indicator. This is similar to the KDE Plasma and Windows 7 (and newer) taskbar. The extension supports Gnome Shell 3.18 and newer.

Gnome Global AppMenu is a Gnome Shell extension that's currently in beta, which implements Ubuntu Unity's global menu to Gnome Shell. The extension also provides support for HUD menus so you can search in an application's menus.

Nautilus (or Files), the Gnome file manager, received a Git update which removes its ability to launch binaries or programs in general. That means you won't be able to double click binaries, scripts, or desktop files to run them - this includes the ask dialog which lets you choose if the file should be launched or displayed.
