Can Free software bridge the economic gap? Well, it certainly can help. Removing financial barriers can help a lot. That can also help people from underprivileged communities or developing (poor) countries get involved, either as developers or something else.

One must therefore assume they have nothing to say in their defence (covering up severe security failings). IMAGINE something very damaging being presented, with full context, based on original material, right from the horse's own mouth. One might expect, at the very least, a face-saving statement, such as "well, that was a long time ago" or "we learned our lessons"...Well, Debian does not work that way. Instead, like a cult, it only attacked the messenger.

Maybe the key point was to say "Linux is not secure either" or "Windows and Linux are equally vulnerable", so don't bother dumping Microsoft.

Please consider helping them piece together the missing bits. Dozens of people spent a considerable amount of time preparing these talks and some traveled (physically) to Boston in order to present these talks.

We need to publicly talk about those things because if we lack freedom of expression we will, in turn, lose our freedom of thought. In turn, in the absence of facts, people lose a sense of reality. Lies become perceived truisms or axioms
