Scientific Linux 7.0 Screenshot Tour

Announcing the release of Scientific Linux 7.0, a distribution compiled from the source code for Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7. Scientific Linux differs from Red Hat Enterprise Linux and CentOS in that the project enhances the system with extra software applications and utilities.

GALPon MiniNo 2014 PicarOS Screenshot Tour

Once again we have prepared for you a new PicarOS release with features that will please everyone. This year we have focused on making life a little more comfortable for our colleagues, K12 teachers, in addition to adjusting programs to this level and prepare them for using in the classroom or at home. We have prepared some extremely easy scripts (Menu - Minino Tools - Computer Room) used to install PicarOS in a computer room. They configure the network (computer name, give a static IP, Internet), Epoptes (to control all PCs in the class), a shared folder (Samba) and set up a program that synchronizes all the classroom with a pair of clicks. No system administration knowledge is needed for do this. New desktop environment (Menu - Minino Tools - Desktop Style) designed specifically for interactive whiteboards.

4MLinux 10.0 Screenshot Tour

4MLinux 10.0 'Allinone' edition final released. The status of the 4MLinux 10.0 series has been changed to stable. The final release has all the features included in 4MLinux 10.0 'Rescue', 'Media', 'Server' and 'Game' editions. Two major changes in user space: support for touchscreens has been added (they can be calibrated via the xinput calibrator) and support for webcams has been improved (more info available on the 4MLinux blog). The size of the final ISO image is now much bigger because it includes optional software (drivers and development packages).

Debian 8.0 Beta 2 Screenshot Tour

The Debian Installer team is pleased to announce the second beta release of the installer for Debian 8 Jessie. Important changes in this release of the installer: Gnome is now the default desktop environment on Linux again. A list of desktop environments is displayed in tasksel, making it easy to install another desktop environment (or several of them). Unfortunately that is currently a bit underdocumented. Preliminary support for the arm64 and ppc64el architectures has been added.

KNOPPIX 7.4.2 Screenshot Tour

Version 7.4.2 of KNOPPIX is based on the usual picks from Debian 'Wheezy' and newer desktop packages from Debian 'testing' and Debian 'unstable'. It uses Linux kernel 3.16.3 and X.Org Server 1.16.1 for supporting current computer hardware. Chakra GNU/Linux 2014.09 Screenshot Tour

The Chakra team is happy to announce the first release of the Chakra Euler series, which will follow the 4.14 KDE releases. A noticeable change in this release is the major face-lift of Kapudan, which now gives the option to users to enable the [extra] repository during first boot so they can easily install the most popular GTK+-based applications.

CentOS 5.11 Screenshot Tour

We are pleased to announce the immediate availability of CentOS 5.11 for i386 and x86_64 architectures. CentOS 5.11 is based on source code released by Red Hat, Inc. and it includes packages from all variants, including Server and Client. All upstream repositories have been combined into one, to make it easier for end users to work with.

Ubuntu MATE 14.10 Beta 2 Screenshot Tour

Ubuntu MATE 14.10 Beta2 is now available for download. This second beta fixes a number of issues that were present in Beta1, adds a few new features and includes some more original artwork. Fedora 21 Alpha Screenshot Tour

The Fedora 21 Alpha release has arrived, with a preview of the latest free and open source technology under development. As part of the Fedora.next initiative, Fedora 21 will boast three products: Cloud, Server and Workstation. Note that for the alpha release, the network installers act as generic, 'universal' installers, offering the entire set of Fedora package groups by default, rather than only the groups associated with the product they are meant to represent. Each of the products will build on the 'base' set of packages for Fedora.

The Ubuntu team is pleased to announce the final beta release of Ubuntu 14.10 Desktop, Server, Cloud, and Core products. This beta release includes images from not only the Ubuntu Desktop, Server, Cloud, and Core products, but also the Kubuntu, Lubuntu, Ubuntu GNOME, Ubuntu Kylin, Ubuntu Studio and Xubuntu flavours. Utopic final beta includes updated versions of most of our core set of packages, including a current 3.16.2 Linux kernel, AppArmor improvements, and many more.

Netrunner 2014.09.1

This is the release announcement of Netrunner Rolling 2014.09.1. We are releasing this maintenance shortly after our initial 2014.09 release to fix problems with the NVIDIA driver, and to include a first fix for the Bash shell vulnerability. We also updated Samba file sharing, Kontact accounts and language pack installation. Laptop Mode Tools was replaced by the new TLP to give you better control of your power consumption and achieve a longer battery life with your laptop. With the 2014.09 version we updated Netrunner Rolling to the latest software updates from Manjaro, including Linux kernel 3.14.18 with lots of bugs fixed and new driver support. KDE SC was updated to version 4.14.

Q4OS 0.5.18 Screenshot Tour

Q4OS 0.5.18 version 0.5.18, is available. The new version includes several security updates and updated packages. Lookswitcher, the tool to easily switch between classical and modern user interfaces, has been rewritten and bunch of GUI improvements have been made. Script for APT database lock detection has been ported to the C programming language. Prepared underlying API for easy installation of recent application versions from the backports repository and automatic detection of national environment and language. Q4OS is now stable enough to be recommended for everyday use.

Zorin OS 9 Lite Screenshot Tour
