Fedora 18 review
The new Anaconda is just one feature, albeit a very important one, that shipped with Fedora 18. There are many other features, new and updated, that also shipped. So, this is not going to be all about Anaconda. It will form a major portion of this review, but, certainly, not all of it.
How to dual-boot Fedora 18 and Windows 8 on 1 HDD, with GRUB in a PBR
But by the time you are done with this tutorial, GRUB 2 will be in the Partition Boot Record (PBR) of the boot partition of the Fedora installation, and Windows 8?s boot program will be restored to the boot manager, making it the primary boot manager, so that every time the computer is rebooted, you will see this screen, or a bland, black one.
Chromebooks vs Windows 8 certified systems
The “freedom” issue surrounding Chromebooks is well documented, same with Windows 8 certified systems. So, which one is better? Or which one gives you less or more freedom?
Bodhi Linux 2.2.0 review
A minimalist distribution does not present a very good candidate for the type of reviews I normally write, but I’ll do my best to give non-Bodhi users an idea of what it brings to the table.
Have some fun with Deepin 12.12 alpha
However, there’s something about version 12.12 that begged for an article. Maybe it’s just the cool, new UI or the combination of the UI and Chinese characters that did it.
No, that “Most Trusted Company for Privacy Award” does not compute
How can people be very concerned about government surveillance, and still trust a company like Microsoft? And if people are concerned about government surveillance, what about surveillance by private organizations? Has anybody looked into backdoors in Verizon’s Internet routers?

Now that Kaptan has been ported, YALI’s waiting

But if this proposal is accepted, they will lose a major distro and, hopefully, will be forced to rethink the GNOME Shell.
The many Profiles of Enlightenment’s E17
The latest release, Enlightenment version 0.17 or E17, was released late last year. I’ve been playing with it for a few weeks now, and so far, I’ve been impressed. There are still has some very rough edges, but it’s very usable.

Sure, but what good is not losing your data if an unauthorized party can access it just as easily and readily as you can.
Rock and Paper, the Android Personal Computer’s new looks
The first incarnation of the APC was just a basic motherboard targeted mainly at developers, but the APC Paper, the more expensive of the two, brings something slightly different to the table.
ROSA Desktop Fresh 2012 review
I’ve been running ROSA Desktop Fresh 2012 beta 1 on a test system since it was released on October 20 2012. When the stable edition was made available for download, I didn’t need to reinstall, just updated the system. This review is based on that system, with screen shots from it and a couple of test installations in a virtual environment.
Upgrading Fedora 17 to 18 with FedUp is elegant, but …
With Fedora 18, the recommended upgrade tool is called FedUp (FEDora UPgrade). It is, by design, a lot more elegant than what it replaced, but how well or error-free it works is another matter.
