Today we are pleased to announce the release of Black Lab Professional Desktop 6.0 Service Release 3 or SR3. Black Lab Pro Desktop 6.0 SR3 is a major upgrade to our pro desktop line of distributions. With this release we worked on a few issues with memory consumption, security and speed. With the Black Lab Pro Desktop we deliver it in two different desktops, KDE and GNOME Shell . While these are commercial releases we do offer a cut down version of it available for download from our website. While we do not release for download all of the features of the retail release it is far from being crippled. The KDE release boots only consuming 480MB of RAM and the GNOME Shell release boots using only 545MB of RAM.

The GParted team is proud to announce a new stable release of GParted Live. This live image contains GParted 0.21.0 which fixes an off-by-one sector error in GParted's internal block copy algorithm, and removes unnecessary duplicate actions when resizing a partition. Items of note include: based on the Debian's 'Sid' repository as of 2015-01-27; replaced i486 live image with i586; increased minimum requirements to 256 MB of RAM. This release of GParted Live has been successfully tested on VirtualBox, VMware, BIOS, UEFI, and physical computers with AMD/ATI, NVIDIA, and Intel graphics.

The Evolve OS team is proud to announce the release of Evolve OS beta 1. Evolve OS is an independent Linux distribution featuring the Budgie desktop, aimed at desktop users. Evolve OS now features a preliminary version of evolve-sc, the Evolve OS Software Center. Its aim is to simplify the updating and installation of software, providing a simple interface to get the job done. Budgie Desktop is currently in sync with our latest development version, and is now built upon the GNOME 3.14.2 stack. Consequently many existing issues with the desktop have been resolved, which provides a far more stable experience than previous versions. Evolve OS now ships by default with support for many formats and includes many codecs.

The Debian Installer team is pleased to announce the first release candidate of the installer for Debian 8 "Jessie".

This is the release announcement of Netrunner 14.1 Main edition 'Frontier'. The '14.1' indicates an updated and polished release of Netrunner 14 LTS on the same underlying base. Since 14.1 is using the same 'Trusty' base as Netrunner 14, there is no need for users of 14 to migrate; simply updating from the shared backports ppa of the Frontier release cycle should give the same result, while keeping customizations in place. So 14.1 is a fresh starting point for new users who want to install an up-to-date KDE 4-based system from the ISO image. This is the first time we are working on both updating our current LTS base (Frontier), while at the same time preparing the next release, Netrunner 15 (Prometheus), with the upcoming KDE Plasma 5.2.

Robolinux is quite proud and excited to announce its brand new 'Supersonic 3D Speed' GNOME version 7.8.1. A massive amount of time and effort was spent to significantly speed up this new Robolinux GNOME version by creating a more streamlined menu system, removing the Nautilus file manager load time lag to zero seconds, and optimizing many other GNOME core applications. The 32-bit and 64-bit variants are based on the newest rock-solid Debian stable 7.8 kernel and source code. Please note that the Robolinux GNOME FAQ section is being edited as fast as we can to reflect the completely new user interface. We also upgraded Robolinux Xfce and LXDE with the newest Debian upstream 7.8 kernels and security updates.

HandyLinux is a French distribution designed for novice Linux users. It is based on the latest stable version of Debian GNU/Linux and it uses the Xfce desktop environment. The main feature of the distribution is a custom start menu with applications and Internet bookmarks grouped in tabs. HandyLinux integrates the latest versions of the Chromium web browser, LibreOffice office suite, Skype conferencing and messaging client, VLC video player and other popular applications with the stable Debian base.

Q4OS 0.5.24 released. New command-line tool to globally change display DPI is introduced in Q4OS to be usable with high-DPI screens. Important core system packages updates and security fixes applied. Users can appreciate better system integration and cleaner dependencies of Adobe Flash Player, especially in combination with Firefox 34 or later. The new version brings improvements for Q4OS developers too. The underlying development pack API has been extended with localization and internationalization tools and unique Q4OS installer has been integrated into core system, so Q4OS self-extracting setup files can be packed much more efficiently. We are getting ready to bring a stable version 1.0 in expectation of the forthcoming Debian 'Jessie' release, stay tuned.

MakuluLinux Cinnamon 2.0 is a continuation of the first release, with focus on updating, polishing, refining and fixing issues reported in the previous release. There are many little changes throughout the system to give it a smoother and more refined feel. There are also some major changes in this release; some will be backported to 1.1, some won't.

AliyaLinux 2015-01-12 Xfce is available. AliyaLinux is an elegant Debian Testing based live Linux distribution easy to use for newcomers to Linux from Windows environment. AliyaLinux has all necessary applications preinstalled for you to deal with daily tasks without having to look for additional software. When you need more applications, games or tools, you can install them through Synaptic Package Manager and PlayOnLinux.

Edu * Ro Beta 1 is available. Edu * Ro is an operative system assembled under the Linux computer operating system and built up especially for didactics. This operating system, compounded on the Debian distribution frame, contains a variety of free educational programs: from primary school to higher education, as well as various utility programs. Dedicated applications for mathematics, physics, chemistry, geography, biology, statistics, electronics, graphics, office, music, audio and video editing, programming are rounded by a virtual Phet laboratory, a virtual microscope, robotics laboratory and various other online applications. One special section allows teachers to create different publications, both for the students convenience and further on-line publication.

I'm delighted to announce the release of UberStudent 4.1 'Epicurus'. UberStudent is a Linux distribution for everyone, especially higher education and advanced secondary students, people who teach them, and their schools. It is designed for Linux beginners while being equally satisfying to advanced users. System: Ubuntu 14.04 long-term support release base (with updates applied up to Jan 15, 2015), Supported until April 2019. What's New? All known installation and other bugs have been fixed; robust EFI support; much faster boot time; cleaner, faster code throughout; UberStudent Panel Changer to switch between a traditional two-panel desktop (like GNOME 2) and a one-panel desktop.

Tails, The Amnesic Incognito Live System, version 1.2.3, is out. This release fixes numerous security issues and all users must upgrade as soon as possible. On January 3rd, the SSL certificate of our website hosting provider, boum.org, expired. This means that if you are still running Tails 1.2.1 or older, you will not get any update notification.

ChaletOS 14.04 is available. ChaletOS is a Xubuntu-based project with a desktop theme that resembles Microsoft Windows. ChaletOS has a style that everyone knows well, appealing simplicity and an impressive speed. All this will let them to fall in love with this system quickly. Because of its small hardware requirements it will revive some old machines and refresh others, not so old.

The team is proud to announce the release of Linux Mint 17.1 "Rebecca" Xfce. Linux Mint 17.1 is a long term support release which will be supported until 2019. It comes with updated software and brings refinements and many new features to make your desktop even more comfortable to use.

An updated Bio-Linux 8 version is now on the website in ISO and OVA variants. The key changes are: addresses a recent issue with the desktop failing to start on VirtualBox due to incompatible drivers; updates various packages, notably QIIME and Bowtie-Bio tools; adds the pandaseq paired end assembler; adds the updated beginner's tutorial specific to Bio-Linux 8. As usual, there is no need to download this version if you are an existing user. All updates to existing packages will be applied to your system through the update manager and new packages are all available via apt-get or Synaptic.

The team is proud to announce the release of Linux Mint 17.1 'Rebecca' KDE. Linux Mint 17.1 is a long-term support release which will be supported until 2019. The previous version of Linux Mint used KDE 4.13. In this release, KDE is upgraded to version 4.14. Support was added in MDM and in the session for the KDE wallet to be fully integrated with Linux Mint. Although a Wallet Manager is present for configuration purpose, no interaction is needed for the KDE wallet to work. The wallet is created automatically with your first login, and it opens automatically in the background with every new session. The Update Manager now groups packages together according to their source package.

USU Desktop 9.1 is available. USU can be your perfect learning tool, no matter whether you are a child, a student or a teacher. There are a few dozens of preinstalled quality educational applications, grouped by field of knowledge and covering the whole educational process. Many more applications are just one click away. And being completely free for use or share, USU can be used at home or at school without any costs and complex licensing agreements.

ExTiX GNOME is now based on Ubuntu 14.10 'Utopic Unicorn'. GNOME has been upgraded to version 3.14. (not in Ubuntu's repositories). All packages have been updated to the latest versions by 2015-01-04. Linux kernel 3.16.0-21-exton is used (kernel.org's Linux kernel 3.16.4). Google Chrome is included; this makes it possible to watch Netflix movies. It is not possible in Firefox (in Linux). I have also installed BlueGriffon web editor. 'BlueGriffon is a new WYSIWYG content editor for the world wide web. Powered by Gecko, the rendering engine of Firefox, it's a modern and robust solution to edit web pages in conformance to the latest web standards.' Comparable only to Dreamweaver (in my opinion).

SparkyLinux 3.6 'GameOver' is out. GameOver is a special edition of SparkyLinux targeted at game players. It has been built on the top of SparkyLinux 3.6 'Annagerman' and it's fully compatible with Debian's 'testing' branch. What is under the hood of GameOver 3.6? Linux kernel 3.16.7; all packages upgraded from Debian's testing repositories as of 2014-12-31; lxde-common 0.99.0, Openbox 3.5.2, PCManFM 1.2 3, Iceweasel 34.0, VLC 2.2.0-rc2; Steam and Steam Launcher 1.0.0.49; Desura for Linux; WINE and PlayOnLinux. The Liquorix repository is enabled as default, it lets you upgrade the Linux kernel up to version 3.18 and WINE up to version 1.7 after installing SparkyLinux on a hard drive.
