Awesomium windowless web framework and engine has been ported to Linux. Awesomium can be used for web page capture, site scrapping, in-app advertising, in-app browsing, web automation, rendering custom in-game web browser and creating HTML UIs for 3D games.Awesomium is a software library that makes it easy to put the web in applications. Whether that means embedded web browsing, rendering pages as images, streaming pages over the net, or manipulating web content live for some other purpose. Awesomium supports latest web standards: HTML5 semantics, JavaScript, and CSS3, as well as Flash and Silverlight plugins and is a branch of Google Chromium. The project is already being used to render UI for upcoming Linux game Overgrowth.

A pre-release for Pitivi Video Editor is now available for users to test. This pre-release includes many bug fixes and new features developed over a span of last 7 months. Probably the most exciting feature is addition of new audio and video effects. If there are no critical issues or regressions found in this build, Pitivi 0.14 will be released on May 31st.

The game features a world populated by other hackers (AI). You will be able to play against them, or join them. Your choices of playing the game, will be virtually unlimited. Each hacker will be controlled by a neural network based Artificial Intelligence. Every level in the game have certain objectives to complete within a pre-defined time limit. To complete the objectives, you will have to go through various servers and hack them using various tools like EMP and DOS attacks. However, each server have different strengths determined by firewall power, CPU power and integrity.

There are many Ubuntu users who like Unity interface and its ability to optimize screen space. But the default main menu is a bit of pain as all the categories are hidden by default and it does not support wine menus. There is an application lens but it is way down at the bottom, not movable and most of the time it is folded as I pin lots of applications on Unity launcher. But, you can now permanently have another classic Gnome style menu in Unity itself, thanks to Cardapio. Cardapio has an excellent plug-in system which not only provide similar functionality to the default Unity menu but is actually more powerful than it.

Vertigo is a new fun arcade game for Linux which is based on Ogre3D and BulletPhysics Engine. The game is completely free, open source and cross platform. You are a probe and your mission is to maneuver your way to the other end of the warp tunnel. Your probe is set with 2 shields to protect from fire and ice drones, but only 1 shield is active at a time. You have to flip shields in time to protect yourself, and you can possibly move left and right to avoid some obstacles. It's a pure reflex game, so be quick. Coupled with awesome music score, you will quickly get lost into and want more of it. There is nothing too serious about this game. Just pure fun for quick time pass.

Addictive simulation and farming game Family Farm is now available for Linux. The game which focuses on building and maintaining your own farm has RPG elements to it as you can control your character with many RPG attributes like skills etc.Players can create and put themselves in control of a small Family Farm inhabited by various characters, each with different skills and needs. As the family grows, the house can be upgraded and the farm expanded into the surrounding area.

Ubuntu 11.04 Beta 2 has been released today that brings many new updates and fixes. This is the last beta before the final Ubuntu11.04 release on April 28. There will be no release candidate.

Ubuntu 11.04 Beta 1 has been released today and iso images are now available to download. Ubuntu 11.04, is coming up with an entirely new shell for Gnome desktop - Unity, which was default for netbook edition in Ubuntu 10.10 and was based on Mutter.However, Unity has been ported to Compiz from mutter. Classic Gnome Desktop will also be available in Ubuntu 11.04 but will not be default and users can switch to it from login screen.Netbook Edition of Ubuntu has been merged and now there is no 'Ubuntu Desktop Edition' or 'Ubuntu Netbook Edition'. Ubuntu's Unity interface will automatically detect netbooks and small screen devices and will adjust settings accordingly.

In this game you play a role of robot that is sent to space to explore and find what lies beyond earth. You are in control of a space ship that can travel in the solar system. After Sintel open movie project by Blender Foundation, now Sintel The Game is in development for almost a year which is a video game adaptation of the original movie. The game showcased its pre-demo in Blender Game Contest 2010 in January this year and stood at second place. For Sintel The Game, a script was written to keep the same level of emotions that were in Sintel movie and at the same time keeping intense action oriented gameplay.

FLARE which stands for Free/Libre Action Role Playing Engine is a new game/engine heavily in development. With isometric views and graphics and an action oriented hack 'n' slash gameplay, FLARE very much feels like Diablo series games. FLARE is completely free and open source project and is licensed under GPL v3. Also it uses community contributed and freely licensed Open Game Art for game graphics.

Three Rings Design, known for developing innovative online games like Puzzle Pirates, is coming up with a new multi-player online RPG, Spiral Knights on April 4th. The game can more suitably fall into Action-RPG category as the game involves hack 'n' slash mechanics and feels very much like popular Legend of Zelda series. The graphics are quite nice and remind me of Torchlight in some way.
