For reason/reasons unknown, ex-Windows users leaving Windows and seeking a free alternative somehow do not seem to be flocking to ReactOS. Instead, the Windows users are coming to Linux in general, but we hear a lot of complaints from the ex-Windows users that Linux is difficult for them to get used to. They want a free system that is Windows-like, and here they have a free system which is Unix-like.
The Linux Foundation, the nonprofit organization dedicated to accelerating the growth of Linux, today announced its new board of directors, a diverse group that represents the key stakeholders from every corner of the Linux ecosystem: the Linux kernel community, Linux vendors, distributions and users, as well as individual open source leaders.

Novell have done a great collection of spoof ads of Apple’s “I’m a Mac” series, you know, the ones that had a UK launch in January this year. Laura Breeden bought a new Compaq Presario C304NR notebook in January. She bought it because she wanted to get rid of Windows and all the malware that surrounds it and move to Linux, and her old laptop lacked the memory and power to run Ubuntu Edgy. The salespeople assured her that the C304NR was "Linux ready." But they didn't tell her that running Linux would void her warranty.
Nero was showing two things at CeBIT. The far more interesting of the two is coming this May, it is NeroLinux V3. It catches the Linux version up with the Windows one with the same burn engine.
Canonical Ltd, the commercial sponsor of Ubuntu, today announced it has scooped another award for Ubuntu, its leading-edge Linux distribution. At the PC Welt awards dinner held during the CeBIT Exhibition in Hanover, on Friday 16th March, Ubuntu was awarded the "Editor's Choice Award for Open Source".
